![]() My grandfather, Yosef Yehudah Levinsky (surname provided by an immigration official at Ellis Island), had been drafted into the Czar's army. He was born in 1903, to a 17-year-old girl who had arrived with her 18-year-old husband on American shores barely a year before. He turned base traits into golden qualities, without benefit of a master or mentor, or even an example. His is a story of character development, or rather character alchemy. His is more than a "rags to riches" story. Out of a prankster and troublemaker who got expelled from school in 9th grade, he created a man of integrity and generosity. Out of a frightened child of immigrants who didn't know a word of English when he was deposited at first grade in a rough South Philly school, he created a man of deep self-confidence. And Geoff Smith Rachel Bennett MCIPD and Vanessa May also published, with a few more on the cusp of being launched in January/February. In March, I took myself away to Dorset for a week to work on the second edition of ‘Book Marketing Made Simple’, joined for a few days by Sheryl Andrews.Īnd in August, Tracy Harris and I decided to create a planner to launch alongside this! Ably supported by Louise Lubke Cuss and Samantha Pearce, the book and planner were launched at the end of September. This year, I am personally celebrating not one but two publications of my own. This time Sheryl Andrews and I took our guests to Jane Bryan ~ Thriving Business Club’s beautiful retreat centre in Partaloa in the gorgeous Andalusian mountains.Īfter hubby and I visited it six months before to check it out, we planned an amazing retreat week including lots of valuable writing and planning time, with a few impromptu workshops, a day out in the middle where we enjoyed a gorgeous lunch and beach trip, cinema night, pizza evening, and yoga. One of my highlights was running our 8th writing retreat and our 1st post-pandemic. ![]()
